48 HOURS IN LAGOS

HOW TO TIE GELEBEAUTIFUL GELELAGOS MAKE-UP ARTISTLAGOS PARTYYORUBA TRADITIONLONGEGRANFATHER AND DAUGHTERFAMILYNigerian Princess

An email from a dear reader a few days ago read: Fisayo, In Zulu your name loosely means 'the one who wishes'. I think there may be something apt about this meaning. So here's to all your glam wishes coming true :).

Maybe Thuille was right. Because on Wednesday the 21st of August, I wished I wouldn't be stuck in school missing my grandmother's 80th birthday whilst the rest of the family reunited in Nigeria. 24 hours later, I was on a flight home to Lagos.

What a blessing it was to see my beautiful grand mother turn 80 and dance with her. I wish I could capture the essence of a Lagos party for my non-Nigerian readers. I guess I'll just have to have one recorded for the blog one of these days.

On that note, Happy Birthday mum. My smile, my laughter, my sunshine, my everything positive.

Thank you so much to Iwo and Maureen for our make-up and gele (the massive shindigs on our heads) which we would never have been able to tie ourselves! Make-Up by Iwo of Erumu Creations (08023226519) and Gele by Maureen (08035628913). I'd definitely recommend them when you want to be glammed up in Lagos. Make sure to call and book in advance!
