As your blog grows and what initially started as a hobby on the side actually results in unexpected opportunities, you start to feel the pressure to constantly create content. More importantly, quality content. I look back on some of my posts from early days and it’s evident that I compromised on quality in favour of quantity. More time than usual has elapsed since my last post because I have been crazy busy and I think my blog is at the stage where as much as I need to keep the content coming, I also need to make sure not to overlook quality control.

I took these pictures in the early hours of the morning after my morning run in the park before heading off to work. It’s only Tuesday but I’ve already had a challenging week at work and hard as I tried, my fatigue still showed through these pictures. However, I’m a firm believer in momentarily making the sacrifices necessary to eventually live the life you’ve always imagined, even if that means being knocked out by the end of the week.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: please forgive occasional absences, thank you for reading always and I’ve got some exciting content in the pipelines which I can’t wait to share. Goodnight, I’m about to fall asleep in this position. xxx

I don’t think I had ever worn a Midi skirt or dress before this year. I always thought that I was way too short to Midi. But, you know what? I really do like Midi clothing. I feel like they make for instant understated glamour and class. Some Midi clothing will never work on really short girls like myself but a few will like the ASOS Wiggle Dresses.

I think that the deal breaker is the shoes that they are worn with, which really should never be flats. That being said, after taking these pictures, I put on my Kurt Geiger Anais pumps before heading off for lunch. However, I’d be the first to admit that that wasn’t a good look. I’ve just become so lazy in recent weeks. My exact colourway is sold out but see others in the same style below:

I thought it only fair that I warn you about the potential consequences of reading this post on your summer body. This is my response to all the ‘Are You Ready for Summer’ articles I’ve been seeing lately featuring the hottest bikini-clad females on the planet. Yes, I’m ready for Summer. I’ve been ready since September last year. Do you mean to ask whether my body is ready for summer? Because that’s a completely different question.

My cousin Temi is the no.1 reason why my body will never really be ready for any occasion, no matter how hard I try and how many times I run round the track at my park down the road. She’s moving back to Nigeria at the end of this year and I’m upset because I will miss her and I will miss all of the above but my non-existent abs are rejoicing that they might one day, see the light of day.

Nobody does baking like Temi. Nobody. When she’s not in Italy on a Gelato making course, she’s in her kitchen learning how to make caramel rum popcorn and Tiramisu. Well, not really. She’s also a bad-ass animator and a student at the best Art school in the Nation (she actually made the blog header) but that’s besides the point. You name it, she can bake it.

I have a fair few Nigerian readers. This is to let you know that when Temi moves to Nigeria, you can consider all your event cakes, pastry and ice cream taken care of. She has decided to turn her hobby into her job and she really couldn’t have made a better decision. RIP to your diets and goodluck to your waistlines, I assure you that you will need all the luck you can get. In our family, we grew up crazy about Disney. We must have watched Lion King at least thrice a week. When my little sister Timoni came along, we were so thrilled about her name that we wouldn’t stop asking her where Pumba was?! I’m going to assume that you’ve all watched Lion King because I’d hate to think that you haven’t.

We had so much fun when she came home from boarding school last weekend and she’s such a pleasure to shoot!

My pile of white laundry has never been higher and my long-life fear of the sight of my derrière in white jeans/trousers has never been more irrelevant. This white craze has got me BAD. I never thought that I would wear all white and even have the audacity to show my midriff whilst doing so. Funny thing is that one of my New Year resolutions was to wear more white. At that point, I don’t think I even realised that white was one of SS13′s most popular trends. Or maybe I did but I just didn’t know that I did. You know, subconscious trend spotting.

This sequin jacket deserved all the attention so the rest of the outfit had to be kept monochrome. For me, white linen trousers are a summer necessity. Dress them up, dress them down. However you like.

Hope my London people are enjoying this sunny bank holiday. I sure am! Although it makes it super hard to revise for two exams on Monday. Oops.

I spent my last few hours in Dallas trying Mexican food for the first time at a popular spot called Mi Cocina over brunch with my cousin and her friends. I’ve been craving Mexican ever since because my meal was way too good but I’m well aware that London doesn’t do Mexican like Texas. There’s a reason why it’s called Tex Mex.

I also lost these sunglasses at the restaurant which I wasn’t impressed about because they might have cost only 10 pounds, but they are my favourite go-to sunglasses and are now sold out. Luckily, I’ve still got them in brown! I have no idea how I lost them there, I think I can blame that on the Taxi Mambo cocktail- it was strong. Look at that gorgeous sunset, what a way to end my short trip.

On the last day of the Rewardstyle conference in Dallas, Tieks hosted a Neon party poolside at the Hotel Zaza. Sun, food, drinks and lots of neon made for a great party. I turned up at the party wearing the same ASOS scarf dress as the lovely Rachael from Farfetch which is meant to be embarassing, right? But we both thought it was super cute!

On an unrelated note, I saw Beyoncé perform last night at the O2 London and I have no words to describe the experience. If you haven’t seen her perform, you should add it to your bucket list! I feel like everyone regardless of whether you’re a fan or not, would be blown away by her talent. Best performer alive, hands down.

It’s interesting how fashion is forever in Throwback Thursday mode. It usually begins with a general concensus of ‘Ewww, I will never wear that (again)!’ to acknowledgment by a fair fashionable few that the trend (see: double denim) actually looks pretty cool. I think it is at that point that the effect of celebrity-watching, blogs and fashion week street style kicks in as the influence then spreads like wildfire and everyone realises that they too, must get in on said trend.

Double Denim has gone from being this massive statement, hated by many and liked by some to being so unoriginal that my friend even went as far as to call it mainstream. I also have to ask though, what is wrong with being ‘mainstream’? I guess you could say that as a blogger, what is not wrong with being ‘mainstream’? What is your compulsion to show your outfits to the world if you are just wearing what the next girl is already wearing?

My conclusion is that it is not about what you’re wearing, but how you wear it. Style is the addition of your own twist to a (dare I say) ‘mainstream’ outfit. Maybe you’re able to accessorise with jewellery in a way that is just you, maybe you’ll don a super fly hat, or wear two different shades of denim or heck, even wear the same shade and look like you’re wearing overalls. Maybe you’re going to DIY your jeans with a rip or two or even throw up three fingers and open your mouth. Did you see how the people behind are looking at me? Yes, maybe that too is style. For real though, let’s just wear what the hell we want and have fun wearing it! Take a look at my fabulous blogger friend Daniella wearing Birkinstocks and socks like it ain’t no thang! After wearing these heels all day, I decided day 2 was for flats. I’m completely in love with these gladiator sandals and can’t wait to wear them with every skirt/shorts combination that I own this summer!

After I spent this morning by the pool at my cousin’s house, I decided I could move to Dallas. It was a little unclean because it hadn’t been used all winter but the mere fact that she had an outdoor pool in her compound really excited me. I really love the USA- maybe because I don’t live there and the grass is always greener on the other side of the Atlantic. But,  I have always thought that I would one day abandon everything I know and move to start a life in NYC. Recently, I’m thinking LA may be a better idea, or maybe even Dallas! Long winters are so depressing and it seems like winters these days only know how to overstay their welcome!
